The dream of mechanic Elias Howe: When the American mechanic Elias Howe in 1844 developed the first sewing machine, to him was much stirred an eye of a needle. Needle and a thread did not allow the mechanism to drag easily a needle through a fabric. Other inventors of sewing machines faced this problem also, finding sometimes very strange decisions. And here Howe dreamed a nightmare: he was captured by cannibals, threatening to kill him, if he immediately does not create the sewing machine! Howe noticed that savages shake by copies in which tips openings are done. Having woken up, the mechanic outlined the sketch of the system. Since then all sewing machines use such needles.
